What I Have Learned

This has been a very interesting experience. Doing a blog and setting up a facebook account. One thing that I have learned that I am not sure was an objective of the course is how my students feel when I make one of those assignments that seems to be just a way to keep them working. Don't get me wrong. I understand the reason for having us write messages on the wall and inbox for all the members of the class is the show that we understand how to use the technology and that we get comfortable with it. I also understand the reason for posting to the blogs. It is just that, when you are sitting at the computer trying to come up with something to write to someone you know little about, it gets very time comsuming and a little frustrating. Like I said, I understand how my students feel. But sometimes you have to do an assignment just for what you can get out of it, not because it makes any sense to you. Please don't take any of this personally, Dr. H, and I hope it doesn't hurt my grade. :) The assignment was to put our thoughts and feeling into our blog and that is what I have tried to do. Does anyone out there understand?

This blogging is a new adventure for me as well....I already had a Facebook because my girls have one and I wanted to see what is happening in the "teen world" in which they are exposed to. It is amazing how much information teenagers will share with their "friends". I use my Facebook to communicate with friends, youth group members, and praying for kids that are going through various things.
I love the technology part of the class, but I wasn't prepared for all of the chapter assignments....so that has been my struggle....balancing it all.....

I am fairly new to the technology side to all of this and it has been very overwhelming.

I don't feel that any of my assigments are the best they can be because of lack of time. At least I know how to do new things now, and when I find a time that I can use them, the knowledge will be there.

I'm with you. This work, though very useful, is soooooooooo time consuming.

Dianna,
I had planned to delete my facebook account following this class; however, you've inspired me to reconsider. Well, maybe.

TIME is the important factor here. Trying to juggle two graduate classes at one time is overwhelming.

The "new" part is always hard for me. I struggle, panick, etc. [all of which I've done this month at least 3 times] I think I spend most of my life being the teacher and having the answers. It puts me out of my comfort zone because I have to figure things out. But, when it's all over, it's worth it.

I agree with you about how difficult it is to write something to people who you don't know very well. I though that maybe Dr. H could have had us pick a certain amount of people out of the class to respond to, but then that wouldn't have worked either, as some may have not had any responses to work with. So...the way it was done was probably for the best considering the goals of the assignment itself, and other obstacles to consider.
